Job Title: Head Fencing Coach

Location: Boston University Academy

Salary Range: $5,000 – $7,000 per season

Season Dates: November 11 – February 28

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Fencing Coach to lead our high school fencing team for the upcoming season. As the Head Coach, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the fencing program, including but not limited to athlete development, team management, and competition strategy.


  • Plan and conduct regular fencing practices to improve athletes’ skills and techniques.
  • Develop and implement effective training programs tailored to individual and team needs.
  • Motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their full potential both on and off the fencing strip.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices and competitions.
  • Maintain open communication with athletes, and parents when necessary
  • Uphold and promote sportsmanship, discipline, and respect among team members.
  • Collaborate with assistant coaches and support staff to enhance the overall team experience.
  • Manage equipment inventory and ensure proper maintenance of fencing gear.


  • Previous coaching experience in fencing at the high school level or higher.
  • In-depth knowledge of fencing rules, techniques, and strategies.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
  • US Fencing Association (USFA) coaching certification (preferred).

Working Conditions:

  • Seasonal position with practices typically held after school hours (3:00 – 5:00PM)
  • Evening and weekend availability required for competitions and tournaments (Only 2-3 weekend days in Jan. or Feb.)

Note: The salary range specified is based on available budget and may be subject to negotiation based on qualifications and experience.
