Gifts Officer

The NMH Advancement Office is looking for a  motivated individual to serve in an entry level  fundraising role in uncovering philanthropic capacity and/or inclination for NMH and expanding donor support. Reporting to the Director of Major and Planned Gifts, the  Gifts Officer will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a diverse  portfolio of current and prospective alumni and parent donors; creating strategic action plans for top prospects with the intent of deepening relationships on behalf of NMH.  This work will lead to increased comprehensive giving including annual, capital, and deferred gifts. This position requires decisiveness and judgment, candidates should be able to handle confidential, sensitive information with the highest degree of professionalism.

The successful applicant will have a Bachelor’s Degree and the skills and /or interest in learning about frontline fundraising and relationship management. Experience building and maintaining relationships, persistence, honesty and integrity is highly preferred.  The ideal candidate must be highly organized and require minimal direction to complete complex tasks and multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google products preferred. Candidates should be active listeners who are curious, creative, resilient and confident, and be knowledgeable (or have a demonstrated ability to learn) about contemporary philanthropy.  Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently. Some weekend and evening work required, as well as a willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Valid driver’s license required.
