In January of 2020, the school unveiled a 5-year strategic plan, BluePrint125 — a product of extensive internal investigation and collaborative discussion among the School’s many constituents. In recent years, the School has made significant investments in campus upgrades to improve energy efficiency, air quality, and public safety. Other major campus enhancements have included the creation of flexible, multi-functional learning spaces in the areas of performing arts, athletics, and technology.

Position Summary
Bancroft School seeks a Fifth Grade Classroom Teacher to join our dynamic team of educators for the 2022-23 school year.  Lower School (grades Prek-5) classroom teachers are responsible for the core academic subjects of literacy, mathematics, and a central subject (History/Culture/Social Studies). Experience using the Reading and Writing Workshop Method and Bridges in Mathematics is preferred. Ideal candidates work effectively in a culture of innovation, student choice, and collaboration with colleagues across the division. The Fifth Grade Teacher will also work with our Middle School in the transition to Sixth Grade.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A degree in education (preferred)
  • Previous teaching experience preferred
  • Experience in and enthusiasm for designing curriculum and inquiry-based learning
  • Proven ability to differentiate instruction

  • A continued engagement in Professional Development as a lifelong learner
  • A collaborative spirit
  • A willingness to participate with enthusiasm in all aspects of the school community
  • An understanding of and love for fifth grade students
