Facilities & Campus Operations Associate

The Position
The Facilities & Campus Operations Associate plays an essential role in ensuring that our campus is safe, functional, welcoming, and stewarded with excellence. This part-time 20-25 hour/week, 12 month position supports daily facilities operations through maintenance, basic repairs, janitorial support, campus safety routines, rental support, event setup, IT assistance, and general operations.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities & Maintenance
- Identify and perform routine building maintenance needs and minor repairs (e.g., fixtures, hardware, patching)
- Coordinate and oversee outside vendors brought in for plumbing, HVAC, electrical, janitorial, etc. to ensure work is completed timely, on budget, and with the proper permits
- Install equipment and furnishings as needed (e.g. shelving, furniture) ● Monitor thermostats, lighting, and utilities for energy efficiency and stewardship ● Support seasonal upkeep (e.g., snow/ice management at entry points) ● Schedule and oversee routine inspections of facilities
- Update and complete preventative maintenance schedules to proactively identify issues and prolong the lifespan of the facilities and equipment
Campus Operations & Janitorial Support
- Conduct daily morning walkthroughs for safety, cleanliness, and readiness ● On occasion, execute end-of-day closing checklist (lights, doors, systems, equipment)
- Support cleaning company in inventory/ordering, stocking and maintaining school janitorial supplies (cleaning chemicals and supplies, soap, towels, toilet paper, trashbags, etc.)
- Respond to spills, accidents, or safety concerns promptly
- Shampoo carpets and operate floor-care equipment as needed ● Oversee and support summer facilities staff to assist with larger in-house facilities projects and deep cleaning.
Safety & Security
- Escort vendors/contractors on campus when required
- Address any safety and/or security issues that may arise due to weather, fallen trees, broken equipment, etc.
Rental & Event Support
Support external rental usage by:
- Coordinating with the Auxiliary Programs Manager for access, setup/breakdown needs, and building maintenance
- Conducting pre- and post-rental walkthroughs(on occasion if necessary) ● Reporting damages, needs, or safety concerns
- Assist with internal school events and assemblies as needed
Deliveries, Storage & Logistics
- Receive deliveries and transport items throughout campus
- Assist with storage organization (including attic/basement access) ● Perform regular lifting and movement of supplies, equipment, and furniture
Transportation Support (Basic)
- Collaborate with bus drivers to maintain the school’s small fleet of vehicles by completing minor repairs internally (changing headlights, etc.) and coordinating regular external maintenance
- Assist in overseeing regular outside inspections with the School’s drivers IT & Technical Support (Basic)
- Coordinate with IT in support of any technology work from a facilities aspect including access, replacing ceiling tiles, supporting work on ladders, etc.

- Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, handbooks, forms, lists, etc. Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, simple reports, forms, instructional materials, etc. using prescribed format(s).
- Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in building maintenance, facilities, custodial, trades, or related work ● Ability to lift, push, pull up to and potential exceeding 50lbs, move equipment, climb stairs, and work on feet
- Reliability, initiative, and ability to work independently
- Exhibits an eye for detail and the impact their role has on the success of the school as a business
- Comfort using email, radios, and basic communication tools
- Good relational skills and a commitment to being respectful and child-safe Preferred but Not Required
- Experience in schools, camps,childcare, or youth environments ● Basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical aptitude
- Experience with security systems or building access controls
Hours, Schedule & Compensation
- Part-time, year-round role (approximately 20 hours/week)
- Benefits-eligible (single health,retirement, PTO, etc.)
- Compensation commensurate with experience
