Riley School seeks a full-time teacher for our Early Childhood program working with children who are 2- and 3-years-old. This program is a licensed daycare provider and is part of a small, progressive school offering mixed-age classrooms for children up to age 14. We are seeking a co-teacher or assistant teacher, depending upon experience and credentials, in our Magnolias classroom. 

The successful candidate will:

• have worked for a minimum of 5 years with children under the age of 6
• be credentialed by the state of Maine
• be up-to-date on First Aid and CPR certification
• be able to provide college transcripts demonstrating relevant coursework in Early Childhood education
• pass a background check and fingerprinting
• be comfortable changing diapers
• be comfortable meeting all health and safety requirements of the state of Maine, as well as those of the school
• have a love and appreciation for young children and their development
• approach caring for children with patience, warmth, and understanding
• help our students learn to use their words, share, and care for one another
• work with children on the beginning skills around color, letter, and number recognition, etc.

As a small non-profit, Riley School does not currently offer benefits such as health insurance or retirement matching. However, we offer a significant amount of paid time off, including national holidays, 2 weeks over Christmas and the New Year, 1 week in February for winter break, and 1 week in April for spring break. This is a 10-month position with summers off, although teaching summer camp is always an option for faculty. 

Work hours are as follows:

Mondays: 7:45am-4pm (morning faculty meeting)

Tuesdays: 8:00am-4pm

Wednesdays: 8:00am-5:45pm (afternoon faculty meeting)

Thursday: 8:00am-4pm

Fridays: 8:00am-4pm

In order to ensure a good fit for both the school and the successful candidate, finalist applicants will be invited to spend one to two days in the classroom and will be paid for their time.
