The Nest at Wheeler is a premier Nature-Based preschool, located in Seekonk, Massachusetts. The program welcomes students from 2.9 to 5 years old. At The Nest, our mission is to provide an early childhood education that meets the developmental needs of each child through joyful, hands-on, experiential learning in the natural world. Our nature-based curriculum integrates academics and social-emotional skills and inspires a love of learning and connection to the natural world.
We encourage children to take an active role in their school experience and we strive to nurture each child’s intrinsic sense of creativity, curiosity, adventure, and wonder. Our teaching is grounded in learning that emerges from children’s interests and is based on their skills and needs. Through time spent outdoors immersed in nature, as well as through group and instructional time indoors, we provide effective and meaningful learning for children.
We are currently accepting applications for a per diem Music Enrichment teacher for approximately two hours every other week during the 2023-24 school year. The music teacher will guide four small groups of young children in 30 minute sessions with a playful and active approach where self-expression and social growth as well as a love for music is promoted. This position requires the ability to work with administrators and other teachers, and reports directly to the Director of the Nest. The ideal candidate enjoys interacting with young children and will add to the vibrant and dynamic environment of The Nest.
Responsibilities:
- Introduce small groups of children, ages 2.9-5 years old, to the world of music using songs, simple instruments, and a variety of instructional materials, resources, and experiences.
- Prepare songs for the Nest Holiday Festival in December, Pre-Kindergarten graduation, and Nest closing celebration in June
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in music, education or related field is preferred but not required
- Must be personally engaging and friendly, and possess good communication skills
- Must feel comfortable working with groups of children, ages 2.9-5 years old
- Must possess strong vocal skills and playing an instrument is a plus
- Ability to play an accompaniment instrument is a plus
- Must be able to work independently
Requirements:
- Experience teaching in an early childhood education setting musical background preferred
This position requires the ability to work with administrators and other teachers. The ideal candidate enjoys interacting with young children and is a hard-working, enthusiastic and confident learner willing to add to the vibrant and dynamic environment of The Nest.
