Director of Extended Day Programs

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Director of Extended Day Programs. The Director oversees all after school enrichments as well as our Extended Day Program (EDP) for PreK – eighth grade. In addition, the Director oversees full day childcare for certain school vacation days, and parent teacher conference days. The Director is responsible for hiring and supervising a staff of two to three part-time employees.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, understand the developmental needs of children from ages 4-13, and have excellent communication skills with children and adults. The Director of Extended Day reports to the Associate Head of School. This is a part time, 10 month position.
Position Description

- Reports to the Associate Head of School
- The programs offered during the year will influence the Director’s schedule. Hours on campus will be from 1-6pm, Monday-Friday during the school year.
The Director of Extended Day Programs will
- Develop, market, schedule, and oversee the CRS Extended Day Program
- Hire, coordinate, and supervise additional extended day school enrichment programming without outside “vendors.”
- Devise and manage the registration process for prospective students
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a cadre of competent and properly trained teachers and staff members to organize and facilitate the Extended Day Program ensuring that all instructors perform their duties with the highest level of professionalism.
- Create and monitor all safety and health programs for the CRS Extended Day Program.
- Schedule regular meetings of EDP staff and instructors to evaluate, develop, and implement instruction that reflects the vision of the school and meets optimal standards of safety.
- Provide staff performance evaluations and feedback.
- Monitor student progress and establish standards of student behavior to provide a productive environment and to ensure the optimal condition and safety of all equipment and facilities.
- Arrange for thoughtful communications with and events for the parents of the Extended Day Program.
- Create, maintain, and communicate all records, as required by the school, other schools, consultants, and professional associations.
- Work with the Director of Finance to develop a budget and to ensure the profitability of the program.
- Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to create print and online marketing materials for CRS Extended Day Programs, produce the online catalog of offerings, and generate enthusiasm for and promote the program’s success.
- Coordinate with the Director of Facilities and the Director of Technology to arrange for equipment needs.
- Participate in professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities

- Assuring a safe and supportive environment for all students and campers engaged in extended day programming
- Nurturing the family/school partnership through close communication with families and faculty and staff
- Efficient administration of all programs including student billing and financial management
- Collaborating with the Director of Marketing and Communications to coordinate programs with school calendar
Professional and Leadership Qualifications
- Possess an undergraduate degree
- Be well-grounded in early childhood, elementary, and middle school education and development
- Possess experience working with elementary/middle school students
- Have experience with program coordination
- Demonstrated commitment to community, equity, and inclusion in instructional practice, pedagogical approach, and hiring practices
Leadership and personal qualities
- Capacity to be innovative and creative in determining unique, mission-centric programs
- Have a deep sense of community and a strong understanding of Charles River School’s mission and progressive pedagogy
- Detail oriented
- Excellent communication skills

Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time exempt position and reports to the Associate Head of School. The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience.
