Director of Equity & Inclusion
Atrium School (PreK – Grade 8) seeks a full time Director of Equity & Inclusion. Skilled in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) and invested deeply in race and intersectionality, the Director will be a key leader of Atrium’s culture of welcome and belonging, ensuring that DEIJ work is proudly at the foundation and forefront of Atrium School.
The Director is a member of Atrium’s leadership team, a standing member of the Board DEIJ Committee, and reports to the Head of School. Guided by the credo Excellence with Joy, the Director:

Partners with the leadership team and Board to articulate and advance DEIJ initiatives among students, families, teachers, and trustees.

Works closely with students and families to understand their needs and to ensure progress towards those needs being met.

Collaborates with faculty eager to advance anti-racist pedagogy and further increase equitable representation across all PreK – Grade 8 curricular programs.

Guides alignment of grade-to-grade curricular goals and inspires, coaches, and closely consults with teachers to develop and refine curriculum.

Co-leads a newly-created Curriculum Committee, to shape an purposefully integrated and culturally rich PreK – Grade 8 curriculum overall.

Collaboratively guides faculty professional development.

Partners with colleagues to assess and make the systems, protocols, and policies of Atrium School more equitable.

Together with the Head of School, deepens Atrium’s professional networks and outreach initiatives to recruit, support, and retain faculty & staff of color.

Collaborates with the Director of Enrollment and Head of School to recruit, support, and retain families of color.

In conjunction with the faculty anti-bias and equity committee, promotes social justice at Atrium, and develops new ways of engaging with community partners.
The Director of Equity and Community will be heartily welcomed and well-supported, and will represent the school externally in various ways. As the community’s needs evolve, so too will the Director’s role: we are eager for the particular strengths and experiences of the Director to positively impact our school community. The Director takes deep delight in children’s growth, can lead powerfully from their own identity, and has broad experience leading DEIJ work in a school setting. Collaboratively and independently, the Director will have the latitude and agency to spur growth and change at Atrium.
