Director of Alumni and Parent Relations

Job Summary:
The Director of Alumni and Parent Relations will plan, coordinate, and execute comprehensive alumni and parent programs for New Hampton School. The Director will manage the Alumni Association and Parents Association, working to recruit key volunteers to move the New Hampton School alumni and parent programming forward. The results of their effort will be exhibited through greater alumni and parent involvement, greater event attendance, increased annual and Reunion giving, and stronger involvement of alumni and parents in institutional leadership and volunteer roles. In addition to the Assistant Head of School, the director works closely with the Associate Director of Advancement, the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, and the Events Coordinator.
Job Status:
This position is a year-round, full-time, exempt agreement with benefits in accordance with the Employee Handbook. This position requires travel and weekend hours as determined by the Assistant Head of School.
Specific duties:
This position is responsible for providing opportunities for alumni and parents to become more involved with New Hampton School.
Alumni and Parent Relations
- Assist in developing work plans for the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations and the Events Coordinator to further develop engagement opportunities for NHS constituents.
- In conjunction with the Associate Director of Advancement, and Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, oversee staff involvement of Reunion committees to increase Reunion Weekend attendance and ultimately class gift participation.
o Spear head class volunteer recruitment.
o Organize and execute committee communication throughout the Reunion year cycle to include conference calls, letters, etc.
o Collaborate with team members on Reunion fundraising, particularly the 50th Reunion.
- Lead Alumni Association and other volunteer opportunities to engage our alumni community.
- Lead monthly meetings of key volunteers.
o Actively recruit and manage the Alumni Association subcommittees as needed.
o Manage sports and non-sports awards programs.
o Recruit and manage committee of volunteers in support of annual golf tournament.
o Oversee the New Hampton School Alumni LinkedIn page.Direct/create content.
o Oversee Husky Hub platform–direct/create content.
o Work in collaboration with School Life Office to facilitate Alumni in Residence opportunities as well as alumni classroom visits, community meetings, alumni panels, etc.
o Organize ad hoc meetings of groups of alumni and parents, as requested.
- Recruit and manage Parents Association leaders.
- Lead monthly meetings of parent volunteers.
- Provide support for team and program parents, house parents, and other volunteers.
- Direct content and attendance at monthly informational meetings for all parents.
- Create ad hoc opportunities for parents to network, e.g. the day family’s event, or the summer family’s event.
- Conduct in person meetings with NHS constituents to cultivate and steward important School alumni and parent relationships.
- Assist with writing, editing and providing content for the monthly electronic alumni newsletter and weekly parent newsletter and the Hamptonia.
- Provide content for regular updates to the school website.
- Provide guidance and content for Head of School scripts for Advancement related programs and events.
- Collaborate with the Admission Office to identify Parent Ambassadors and potential Board of Trustee candidates and help organize Parent Ambassador outreach to prospective families.Event Oversight
- Create and manage work plan for all annual and special alumni and parent events.
- Develop programming for alumni and parent events throughout the year to include, but not limitedto Reunion Weekend, Family Weekend, and Grandparents Day, regional events, etc.
- Responsible for overseeing, publicizing and implementing all on- and off-campus events withassistance from the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations and Events Coordinator.
- Coordinate staff outreach to event invitees and event volunteers.
- Oversee event program and draft talking points for event speakers.
- Oversee event attendee follow up correspondence.
