The Meadowbrook School of Weston, a junior kindergarten through 8th grade school located in Weston, MA, seven miles west of Boston, is seeking a Director of Admissions and Financial Assistance. A the first point of contact for prospective families considering Meadowbrook for their child’s education, the Admissions Department is a reflection of who we are as a school. 

The Director of Admissions and Financial Assistance will report directly to the Chief Enrollment Officer and be a key member of the Admissions Department in developing and executing a mission-aligned enrollment and retention plan. They should be a team player with a collaborative and positive energy and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. They will have a genuine empathy for prospective families and an awareness and sensitivity of the diverse needs of our community.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Admissions:

  • Work with the Chief Enrollment Officer to develop and implement a strategic, comprehensive and mission-aligned admissions and retention plan.
  • Supervise and coach three direct reports including two Assistant/Associate Directors of Admissions and an Admissions Coordinator; set clear expectations, provide ongoing formal and informal feedback, cultivate a positive team dynamic focused on executing on the Admissions Department strategy and goals 
  • Act as the primary point person for the Admissions Department helping the team  interact with prospective families, using high relationship management skills to assist them across all steps: inquiry to application to admission and enrollment.
  • Inspire the community to actively participate in admissions events including: individual and group tours, information sessions, student observations/testing/interviews, parent-to-parent connections, and individual family conversations
  • Assist Chief Enrollment Officer on all admission-related marketing materials, including website and/or social media
  • Develop appropriate admission protocols for testing of applicants and for making decisions regarding those applicants
  • Oversee and participate in the development of admissions materials, events and marketing practices and establish and maintain positive relationships with area educational constituencies to create networking opportunities
  • Manage parent and student expectations and deliver admissions decisions in a manner that is honest, caring, and diplomatic

Financial Assistance:

  • Work directly with the Chief Enrollment Officer and the Business Office to develop and maintain a financial assistance program that attracts and retains a talented, mission-aligned student body
  • Support families through the financial assistance process including answering inquiries, assisting with applications, financial appeals, etc.
  • Maintain the financial assistance database in SSS
  • Coordinate the review and distribution of financial assistance agreements for new and returning students
  • Stay current on trends, policies and regulations regarding financial assistance and make strategic recommendations
  • Assist Chief Enrollment Officer with preparation of reports as requested for the Head of School, and/or the Board of Trustees
  • Attend SSS conferences as needed and serve as liaison between SSS and the School
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Previous admissions and financial assistance experience required, preferably at an independent school
  • Collaborative team player with demonstrated experience managing people and leading teams effectively
  • Exceptional communication skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to authentically connect with students, families and organizations across diverse backgrounds
  • Proven track record of a commitment to equity, inclusion and belonging
  • Maintain the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality with a genuine empathy for prospective families and awareness of the needs and sensitivities of all involved
  • Familiar with federal guidelines, policies and laws regarding financial assistance
  • Experience with data reporting and analysis; Ravenna and SSS online  preferred
