Director of Admission and Financial Aid

Administrator / Full-Time

Campus School of Smith College, Northampton, MA

The Director of Admission and Financial Aid is responsible for the marketing of the school, as well as all facets of the enrollment and re-enrollment process. They manage the  financial aid program, including the reviewing of applications and grant recommendations to the Head of School. They are member of the school’s administrative team and they report directly to the Head of School.

Essential Functions

Director of Admissions (60%)

  • Present and communicate the school’s programs through open houses, individual tours and parent meetings. Attend external school and human resource fairs and appropriate community  events.

  • Implement a marketing plan which includes promotional materials, website, displays within the school, print ads, digital ads, social media posts/ads and community outreach.

  • Manage and evaluate applicant records and confidential materials and make decisions in conjunction with the Head of school.

  • Coordinate applicant visits, schedule times with teachers and administrators and parents.       

  • Manage re-enrollment process, review contract, past due accounts and financial aid for returning families.

  • Work with the Parent Partnership to coordinate marketing and welcome events for new families and  students

  • Manage the parent ambassador program, design job descriptions and parent manual

  • Oversee the database and prepare and present annual campus school statistics to campus school faculty and college administrators

Director of Financial Aid (20%)

  • Manage financial aid program, process applications, make grant recommendations to the Head of school

  • Work with Smith development to solicit gifts for financial aid fund Campus School Operations

Other Administrative Duties (15%)

  • Manage the operations of the campus school front office and the administrative coordinators to ensure an efficient and professional service for internal and external audiences.

  • Coordinate with the controller’s office regarding employee payroll deductions, payment plans and past due accounts.

  • Attend faculty and staff meetings

Other Functions

Other duties as assigned (5%)

  • Assist at arrival and dismissal times

  • Participate in the life of the school on a daily basis

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)

Minimum Qualifications include 3-5 years in school admissions or related work and a bachelor’s degree

Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in independent elementary school preferred. Financial aid experience preferred. Advanced degree preferred.


Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing. Ability to build relationships. Experience with enrollment databases. Marketing experience.
