Dana Hall School seeks candidates for the position of Digital Archivist/Digital Archives Assistant.

The individual in this position will be accountable for:

  • Identifying, collecting and cataloging photographs, documents, emails, and other digital materials for permanent retention as archival masters on the school’s server, and providing accurate, thorough, and consistent metadata for these materials in accordance with archives policies and best practices
  • Digitizing photographs and documents as needed for projects and requests and identifying older physical materials suitable for digitization, especially audiovisual materials
  • Learning and documenting the School’s rich history and traditions, and sharing with others through displays, publications, presentations, and regular posts on the School’s social media accounts
  • Assisting in supervising student workers, including the Senior Class Historians, and Archives volunteers
  • Assisting Advancement and Alumnae Relations staff with requests and projects, including preparation for and hosting Archives Open Houses for April Reunions
  • Participating in regular team meetings with the Archivist and Library Director to set shared priorities and goals
  • Sharing digital archival content on the Library website, including photographs, publications, and documents, and researching articles for the Danapedia and entries on the school timeline
  • Assisting in managing the Dana Hall Authors Collection, and other collections relevant to the School’s history

The successful candidate will possess an ability to work collaboratively within the Archives and Library team, working closely with the Archivist to ensure continuity within the collections. Candidates will possess superior attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and strong time management skills. Individuals should also possess an interest and curiosity about Dana Hall history and a commitment to preserving its archival collections for the future. Individuals should also have excellent interpersonal skills, an interest and ability to work with students, and to supervise student workers. In addition, candidates must be comfortable working in an active, dynamic school environment, and with rapidly changing technologies.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in the liberal arts and experience with library and/or archives work. Experience working with digital materials, databases, and applications including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and the Adobe suite is necessary. Additionally, the Digital Archivist/Digital Archives Assistant will be trained in working with our digital asset management system. Candidates must be able to remain seated for extended periods of time, as well as lift and move items up to 60 lbs.

This a 10-month part-time position during the academic year from late August through June. The Digital Archivist/Digital Archives Assistant will work 20 hours per week. Additional hours leading up to and including Reunion, school events, professional development and training are required. This position reports to the Library Director. The title of this position will be dependent on relevant professional experience. Salary range is $26.40-$28.40/hour.
