Digital and Outreach Archivist (PART-TIME)

Dana Hall School seeks candidates for the position of Digital and Outreach Archivist. The individual in this position will be accountable for:

  • overseeing and managing the Dana Hall Digital Quilt in CONTENTdm, including the identification and collection of relevant digital materials, digitization, and metadata
  • overseeing the Archives’ collection and use of the school’s digital image collection in Vitigami
  • identifying physical materials in the collection to be sent out for digitization
  • recording and processing oral history interviews with students, faculty, and alums, as identified by both the Digital and Outreach Archivist, Archivist, and Library Director
  • remaining up to date with Digital Asset Management best practice and implementing appropriate plans and procedures at Dana Hall
  • managing and mentoring two to four student workers in the archives, including two Senior Class Historians
  • Meeting regularly with the Senior Class Historians as they complete a year-long scrapbook of their senior year and write original content about their class’s experience for the Archives and the Dana Hall Bulletin
  • regularly contributing to the Dana Hall Library and Archives social media accounts
  • coordinating archival displays in collaboration with the Archivist
  • preparing for and hosting the Archives Open House over reunion weekend with the Archivist and in collaboration with Advancement

Candidates must have: a background in the archives and digital humanities field, either as a practicing Archivist or as a graduate student currently enrolled in a master’s degree in archives management; facility with digital content and software (CONTENTdm, Vidigami), metadata, databases, DAMS, library systems, and work experience in a school, archives, or library environment is preferred. Candidates must be able to remain seated for extended periods of time, as well as lift and move items up to 60 lbs.

Successful candidates will be creative, curious and detail-oriented with strong organizational, communication and accurate record-keeping skills.  Individuals should have excellent interpersonal skills, an interest and ability to work with and supervise students grades 5-12, as well as strong time-management skills.  They must have an ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as well as an ability to work effectively in an active, dynamic school environment.  In addition, candidates must be comfortable with rapidly changing technologies.

This a 10-month part-time position during the academic year from late August through June. The Digital and Outreach Archivist will work 20 hours per week, 3 days per week during school hours.  Some additional shifts for professional development, training, reunion and school events are anticipated.  This position reports to the Library Director.
