Position Description

Summary 

Nashoba Brooks School seeks candidates for the position of development associate. This position reports directly to the director of development and serves as a member of the advancement team at Nashoba Brooks. The development associate is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of parent relations in the life of the School and managing the Nashoba Brooks Fund, including planning, organizing, and implementing all activities related to the Nashoba Brooks Fund with the goal of expanding trustee, alumni, parent, past parent, grandparent, corporate, foundation, and friend support of the Annual Fund as an ongoing priority. The development associate works collaboratively with all members of the advancement team to successfully achieve advancement goals. 

Responsibilities

Annual Giving 

  • Work collaboratively with the advancement team to foster a mission-driven culture of results-oriented creative problem-solving, innovative thinking, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate solicitation and stewardship activities related to the Nashoba Brooks Fund for all constituencies through personal contact, email, social media, phonathons, and direct mail.
  • Assist in the management and tracking of all Nashoba Brooks Fund gift prospects.
  • Manage a target portfolio of current parents and grandparents and maintain accounts on assigned prospects.
  • Cultivate, steward, and solicit gifts from stakeholders.
  • In coordination with colleagues, plan, organize, and implement volunteer recruiting, training, and orientation.
  • Work closely with advancement team members to develop and manage communications regarding the Nashoba Brooks Fund.
  • Work with the director of development to identify target leadership prospects for Nashoba Brooks Fund and future campaign initiatives.
  • Utilize research on identified stakeholders to assess giving capacity.
  • Utilize the Raiser’s Edge database to manage data and communicate needs related to day-to-day management of annual giving.
  • Ensure that the Nashoba Brooks Fund initiatives are coordinated with all other advancement programs and plans.
  • Perform other duties as may be reasonably required by the director of development; execute these duties with the understanding that some evening and weekend work is required.
  • Achieve annual goals and objectives for position function within the context of the advancement team and School goals.

Stewardship

  • In collaboration with advancement team members, develop and execute a comprehensive stewardship plan to further engage and recognize Nashoba Brooks School’s donors.
  • Collaborate with the advancement team to plan and execute special events (virtual or in-person) to recognize and thank donors.

Team Development and Support

  • Perform other duties as may be reasonably required by the head of school/director of development; execute these duties with the understanding that some evening and weekend work is required.
  • Achieve annual goals and objectives for position function within the context of the advancement team and School goals.
  • Support advancement and school-wide events.
  • Support advancement mailings as required.

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks both independently and as a member of a collaborative team. 
  • Demonstrated effective time management and project management skills.
  • Highly developed computer skills, including working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, Google Apps, and presentation software. 
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all School constituent groups, including employees, students, alumnae/i, parents, and friends of the School.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems creatively, manage confidential information, and navigate sensitive situations with skill and care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Two to five years of experience in leadership and advancement in independent schools or the nonprofit sector.
