Description

Derby Academy is hiring a Development Associate to join the Advancement team. The Development Associate will assist in the execution of a wide array of development initiatives as well as data and operational tasks, including gift processing and acknowledgement, database management and research. A highly collaborative role, the Development Associate will work closely with a variety of partners across the Advancement team, school, and the donor and volunteer community and will be eager to support colleagues in advancing the mission of Derby.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director Advancement, this role will:
Execute a wide variety of administrative tasks to support Development operations and data integrity initiatives.
Record and process all gifts and donor information in an accurate and timely manner.
Generate and send acknowledgement letters.
Regularly interface with parents, alumni, students, and other constituents.
Support the Advancement Team and Advancement Committee, including the implementation of committee meeting logistics and follow-up and the development of committee member work plans.
Implement donor stewardship and recognition strategies.
Conduct in-depth research on prospective donors.
Produce meeting and event briefings to support donor cultivation and solicitation efforts.
Maintain prospect management system.
Produce analytical reports to measure fundraising achievement, activity, and projections.
Assist in the development of proposals, gift agreements, and pledge forms.
Assist with student-facing school duties as assigned, such as lunch duty or pickup/dropoff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
This position is 30 hours/week, full time, benefit eligible.
Requirements
Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required
2+ years of development experience;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fundraising databases for donor segmentation and research;
Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills, with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
Customer-service oriented professional who is highly responsive to staff, donor, and volunteer needs;
Availability to work occasional nights and weekends;
Superior attention to detail;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements
Standing/sitting for long periods of time.
Must be capable of adapting to frequent changes in position throughout the workday.
Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
Use of hands and fingers for manipulation, ability to use computer keyboard, and to perform first aid and CPR.
