This position is a full-year administrative role that requires a high level of community engagement in effectively communicating with all Middlesex constituents, including prospective students and families, alumni, current students and families, and faculty and staff. Reporting to the Chief Strategic Planning and Communications Officer, the Communications Associate will provide leadership in shaping, managing, and executing a comprehensive communication strategy aligned with the School’s mission, values, and goals. The Communications Associate works across all school departments in aligning the School’s messaging to its external constituents. The successful candidate will have proven experience in creative marketing initiatives and effective institutional communications across multiple media channels.

The Communications Associate is expected to be an engaged and active member of our boarding school community. Competitive salary and benefits, including strong professional development offerings, will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership support in planning, scheduling, and creating content within the school’s master communications calendar.
  • Assist in writing and editing content for printed publications, digital e-newsletters, press releases, and the school website.
  • Curate, build, and oversee distribution of the school’s weekly parent newsletter.
  • Manage Middlesex social media channels by collaborating with the school’s Digital Media Specialist in creating and scheduling unique digital content ideas for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and the Middlesex website.
  • Assist in monitoring and promoting brand uniformity across all external communication.
  • Analyze e-marketing, website, and social media data to better engage key audiences.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining the Middlesex digital media archive.
  • Cultivate relationships with students, faculty and staff to encourage and share community-made marketing content.
  • Seek out opportunities for local and national press for the school.
