The College Counseling Assistant is responsible for a wide variety of organizational and operational tasks within the College Counseling office. The college counseling assistant reports to the director of college counseling.

Responsibilities include 

• serving as the first point of contact in the college counseling office for students, families, and other constituencies
• serving as the school’s Advanced Placement (AP) Coordinator
• managing the calendars for the college counselors
• scheduling in-person and/or virtual visits from college representatives
• scheduling phone calls between the college counselors and college and university representatives
• organizing and filing electronic transcripts, teacher recommendations and other school documents
• calculating GPAs for review
• overseeing the office databases and LMS (Naviance, Canvas, College Kickstart, etc.)
• further developing and maintaining Summer Opportunities and Scholarships databases
• serving as the first point of contact in the college counseling office for students and parents
• responding promptly to student and family queries
• coordinating office communications and attending regular meetings with the Communications Department and the College Counselors
• together with the other members of the college office, managing events for students and families
• preparing event forms, communicating event details and assisting in planning programming for college office programming
• other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

• a bachelor’s degree
• a working knowledge of Google, Naviance, Blackbaud, learning management systems, and Excel
• experience in an educational setting or independent school community, preferred
