
Client Technologies Specialist

This full-time position reports to the Director of Technology and is an integral member of a small IT department. The Client Technologies Specialist is responsible for implementation and management of the enterprise laptop/desktop environment and provides basic support for a student “bring your own device” environment. The successful candidate must be an experienced, self-motivated individual who can lead and oversee the execution of processes, operations, and support activities for client technologies, as well as the yearly routines necessary to maintain the school’s technology and cloud systems. The position requires close work with department members to ensure that procedures and technologies are introduced that adhere to established school policies and according to enterprise “best-practices.”
Major Responsibilities:
Manage the HelpDesk in an effort to delegate, prioritize, and document support issues with other members of the IT team
Provide support for school-owned hardware, software, and cloud services including but not limited to installation, preventive maintenance, and repair including but not limited to classroom projection and sound devices, printers, copiers, mobile and internal phones, and audio/video equipment
Mentor and manage our student technicians and that work as assistants in the department
Support all users; in particular, classroom teachers’ immediate technical needs and wireless connectivity for students’ personal devices
Plan, create, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise OS images, application packaging, scripting of configurations, and final end user personalization
Responsible for standardization of client features as necessary and laptop/desktop security on school and personal devices
Ensure that assigned projects are scheduled, documented, and completed according to predefined goals
Install enterprise security software and assign the appropriate policy to the device
Collaborate with other team members, vendors, and end users to facilitate problem resolutions
Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned to support the school
Promote the educational and ethical use of the school’s technology resources
Qualifications:
Exceptional analytical abilities for hardware, software, and cloud service problem-solving
Strong verbal/written communication skills
Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs.
Ability to use a step ladder to mount or maintain wall and ceiling mounted equipment
Proficiencies in:
o Windows 10/11 and Mac OS in a Windows 2016/2019 server environment
o Basic data skills with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and other sources
o Client security software
o Interactive classroom technologies
o A wide variety of devices: desktops, laptops, iOS, tablets, projectors, audio systems, printers, and copiers
o Network connectivity for wireless technologies
o Basic Active Directory knowledge
o Phone system and voice technologies
o Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education

Experience:
Preferred experience in secondary school or college technology environment, working with teachers, administrative staff, and students
College or post-secondary education and/or equivalent training and experience
