Learning Prep School in West Newton, MA is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support our collaborative and highly respected OT department during a maternity leave coverage. We are looking for a licensed COTA with school-based or pediatric experience (pre-teen and teen preferred) who can step into a supportive, team-oriented environment and begin as soon as possible to ensure continuity of services for our students. This position would continue through mid-May.

Compensation: $275/day

In this role, the COTA will provide direct occupational therapy services in accordance with students’ IEP goals and treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist. The successful candidate will step into an active caseload, supporting students who rely on consistent, structured intervention to build fine motor, visual motor, sensory regulation, and functional classroom skills. The primary focus of this position is service delivery — implementing established therapy programs, documenting daily progress, and collaborating with the supervising OT and classroom staff to ensure consistent carryover of strategies across environments. Strong organization, professionalism, and a proactive, student-centered approach are essential.

Our students face a broad range of learning disabilities, including language-based, nonverbal and executive functioning difficulties. Understanding that language skills are the basis for all learning, LPS’s unique curriculum integrates the teaching of language skills in all subjects. This position works Monday-Friday 7:30am to 3:15pm, with after-school meetings on Wednesdays until 4pm.

Qualifications:

• A.S. in Occupational Therapy Assistant
• Massachusetts License as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
• National Certification as a COTA
• School-based or pediatric experience preferred
