Job Summary: 

BB&N is seeking a Summer Camp Lifeguard/Swim Instructor for Summer Camp 2025. Primary responsibilities include Supervising and guarding all waterfront activities and safely guiding campers in their personal growth, daily living skills, and to their daily activities.

In addition, the Camp Lifeguard/Swim Instructor is expected to be committed to the following:

  • Participate in developing and implementing high-quality educational and recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for campers within BB&N’s mission.

  • Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.

  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff. Ensuring the site’s cleanliness and adhering to all safety guidelines associated with the camp program.

  • Positively represent the camp when interacting with parents or community members.  Be a role model to campers and staff in attitude and behavior.

  • Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, dietary restrictions/allergies, and daily attendance.

  • Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.

Skills and Competencies:

The ideal candidate should have some experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.

In addition, the candidate:

  • Must be 17 years of age

  • Must be available for training sessions on the nights of June 10th, 11th, and 12th.

  • Education and First AID and CPR certification, preferred

Essential Functions and Key Objectives: 

  • Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their camper group within activities and throughout the camp to meet the

  • Participate in developing and implementing program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes.

  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.

  • Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.

  • Represent the camp when interacting with parents or community members.

Physical Requirements:

Some physical requirements of a general Counselor position could be endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, climbing, and stretching; requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities; requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs.
