Job Summary

 

Thayer Academy is seeking a dynamic and engaging Business/Finance/Entrepreneurship Teacher for a one-year position. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach multiple foundational business/finance classes in conjunction with the Assistant Head of School for Academics, visiting scholars, and consultants. Topics for these classes will include concepts and tools in business and financial accounting; business analytics; ethics and the legal landscape; marketing; business planning and operations. This will involve summer planning work.
  • Teach 1-2 section(s) of Thayer’s Entrepreneurship class.
  • Develop and lead experiential co-curricular/after-school business/entrepreneurship program offerings.
  • Partner with key administrators on building external partnerships and connections to support business classes, and programs. 
  • Serve as an advisor to a small group of Upper School students.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree (Master’s or higher preferred) in business or a related field; 5 years of work experience in industry.
  • Teaching experience, particularly in an independent school setting, is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver new programs or projects.
  • Ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and adolescent student population and a demonstrated commitment to inclusion and belonging.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle ambiguity.
  • Experience and commitment to collaboration.
  • Focused ability to drive results and an entrepreneurial self-starting spirit.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
