Position Overview

Kents Hill School is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to join our Athletics Department. This individual should be highly motivated to work with high school student athletes, and will be responsible for the care, prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries in coordination with our Health Center. Along with Athletic Trainer duties, this individual will assist with game day operations, manage equipment, and other duties within the Athletic Department. This full-time, year-round position will also advise a group of students, actively participate in the residential life program, and assist with extracurricular activities.

PRIMARY SPORTS MEDICINE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees Sports Medicine services to all student-athletes working in coordination with the Health Center

  • Provides KHS practice and game coverage at KHS events as well as open Sports Medicine clinic hours

  • Administers and oversees the care, prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries to all student-athletes

  • Provides specific clinical care as assigned by the Medical Director

  • Organizes and maintains all medical records in accordance with federal and state regulations

  • Develops and maintains emergency action plans for all permanent and temporary practice and competition venues in accordance with university risk management guidelines and state regulations

  • Develops and maintains all Sports Medicine department guidelines, policy and procedure in accordance with national/international best practices and consensus statements

  • Develops and manages the Athletic Training facility budget and coordinates the purchasing of all equipment and supplies

  • Communicate with physicians, health center, and coaching staff regarding the injury status of athletes

  • Coordinates and instructs Athletic Department staff First-Aid, CPR and AED certification

  • Oversees concussion management for KHS including all return to play and return to learn

  • Makes appropriate physician’s referrals and appointments

PRIMARY ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Game day operations, which includes set-up and breakdown, locker room assignments, greeting teams and officials

  • Manages equipment inventory, uniform issuing and return schedule

  • Assists with game and practice laundry and seasonal uniform inventory, as necessary

  • Assists Director of Auxiliary programs with rink management during summer sports camp

  • Serves as an athletics liaison for summer camps directed by KHS coaching staff

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Instructs PEAK sessions throughout the year
  • Advises 5-6 Kents Hill students
  • Dorm parent
  • Performs residential duty

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • Board Certified Athletic Trainer

  • Maine state licensure or licensure eligible

  • BLS/CPR/AED certification

  • CHRC Approval
  • Experience and familiarity with athletic training in the secondary school setting, preferred
