Summary

The associate transitional kindergarten teacher is a full-time position in our transitional kindergarten and extended day program. The associate transitional kindergarten and extended day teacher works Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. The associate transitional kindergarten teacher supports the transitional kindergarten program in the morning by partnering with a lead teacher in a classroom. During the afternoon, the associate preschool teacher supports the extended day program. Teachers at Nashoba Brooks model the mission of the School and create student-centered, mission-driven learning environments for students.

 

Responsibilities

The associate transitional kindergarten teacher is responsible for: 

  • Working closely with teaching and administrative employees to support the educational, social and emotional development of students.
  • Collaborating with teaching team members and the student support team to identify and support student learning needs.
  • Modeling excellent problem solving and project management skills with a commitment to viewing challenges as problems that can be solved rather than obstacles that cannot be overcome.
  • Supporting effective communication and collaboration within the Lower School team.
  • Supporting student safety through a demonstrated commitment to emergency response training.
  • Implementing lesson plans and assisting in developing curricular activities that promote collaborative and integrated learning.
  • Collaborative planning for and facilitation of Extended Day (Preschool – Grade 3)
  • Creating and supporting routines that recognize the importance of active engagement that is developmentally appropriate and intellectually stimulating.
  • Assisting in maintaining observational records for each child.
  • Communicating effectively with parents through informal daily interactions, email, telephone and periodic written reports.
  • Actively pursuing and integrating relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Supporting the School community and culture through additional duties such as student supervision, attending community events, etc.
  • Engaging effectively in a dynamic learning environment by demonstrating flexibility and the willingness to contribute to the broader community.

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in early childhood education required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in early childhood teaching.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
