Title: Associate Director of Development

Reports to: Director of Development 

Status: Full-time, 12-month position

This position will contribute to development and fundraising operations for Esperanza Academy to ensure effective donor relations and stewardship, donor, and engagement strategies by securing contributions from individual, corporate, and foundation sources that meet the school’s annual budget needs. This position is an integral member of a small development team and reports directly to the Director of Development. 

  • Design and execute all annual development events including special events, corporate recruitment, and committee management.
  • Work with a portfolio of corporate funders and actively seek to identify and cultivate new corporate funding streams for Esperanza Academy.
  • Gift entry, gift acknowledgments, and database management.
  • Represent the school at public, corporate, and foundation events, conferences, places of worship, community groups, etc.
  • Work with the Director of Development and Head of School to position Esperanza Academy as a thought leader in urban and girls’ education by identifying outreach, publication, and partnership opportunities.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Marketing & Communications, collaborate with colleagues across Esperanza, including in Graduate Support, and Advancement, to identify new sources of content for sharing on social media.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Marketing & Communications, generate, edit, publish and share engaging content across our social media channels and marketing channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, MailChimp, and LinkedIn.
  • Take and select photographs for print publications and social media channels
  • Represent Esperanza Academy and the Development Office in a positive, professional manner, internally and externally, to all stakeholders

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree and at least four years of related professional experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced work environment with multiple responsibilities
  • Warm, open, professional demeanor and work habits
  • Expertise in social media and email marketing platforms
  • Expertise in donor database management 
  • Sense of humor and ability to work as part of a close-knit, results-oriented team
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Passion for the mission, vision, and values of Esperanza Academy; comfort and willingness to actively participate in the community
  • Strong work ethic; ability to lead by example and work effectively in a small, non-profit environment
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills; demonstrated ability to conceptualize and describe funding needs in a way that is compelling to donors and prospects.
