Associate Director of Athletics

As a teacher and a coach, this person will work as an integral member of the physical education and athletics department by supporting the school’s comprehensive pre-kindergarten through grade eight program. A qualified candidate will possess a joy for teaching and will promote a physically active and healthy lifestyle in elementary and middle school students’ lives. They will be enthusiastic, dynamic, and vibrant members of the community who uphold the school’s values and share a dedication to educating the whole child.

This is a part-time (20 hours per week), ten-month, exempt, and benefit-eligible position that reports to the director of athletics. The role begins on August 26, 2024. This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored relocation.

Responsibilities:
• Teach physical education in grade five
• Coach a middle school athletic team all three seasons
• Manage all aspects of team equipment, game uniforms, and athlete nutrition.
• Provide administrative leadership for game day logistics of the athletics program.
• Commit to fostering an inclusive and equitable community in and out of the classroom
• Demonstrate instructional excellence by knowing students and adapting curriculum
• Remain current with educational practices that meet the developmental needs of all children
• Embrace and cultivate the school’s six core values as a contributing member of the school community

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience teaching physical education preferred
• Experience coaching youth sports required
• Excellent communication skills (verbal / written) and organizational skills
• Collaborative team player
• Advocate for self and community
• Cultural competency with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
• Flexibility, energy, patience, and creativity
