St. John’s Prep is an inclusive, Catholic, Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School for young men in grades 6 through 12. Position Overview and Responsibilities

  • In consultation with the Director of Wellness and Strength Conditioning Coordinator, plan, implement, and assess strategic initiatives and partnerships to further the concept of wellness across the St. John’s Prep campus.
  • Teach health classes to students in grades 7 and 8. 
  • Develop, implement, and oversee student, faculty, and staff strength and conditioning programs.
  • Support in training and supervising staff who work in strength and conditioning programs.
  • Teach fitness-related wellness/physical education activity courses as needed.
  • Play an active role on the wellness team by contributing to the promotion of health and wellness programming across campus.
  • Collaborate with the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, the department of athletics, and coaches to design in-season and out-of-season strength and conditioning programs.
  • Partner with the department of athletics to provide education for coaches as needed.
  • Engage in other areas of focus as designated by the Director of Wellness and/or Strength and Conditioning Coordinator to promote wellness on campus.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or physical education-related fields required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and/or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC).
  • American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing/sitting for long periods of time.
  • Bending, lifting, pushing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, stooping.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach at and above shoulder height to access higher areas of equipment, etc.
  • Must be capable of adapting to frequent changes in position throughout the workday.
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
  • Use of hands and fingers for manipulation, and using computer keyboard, educational tools, play equipment, and perform first aid and CPR.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
