Assistant Director of Athletics

Job Description

The Fenn School seeks an Assistant Director of Athletics to begin on September 1, 2024. The Assistant Director of Athletics supports the Director of Athletics in leading and carrying out Fenn’s athletic program across grades four through nine. A successful candidate will be highly organized and communicative, collaborative and proactive, support the mission of the School, and work effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff. The Assistant Director of Athletics coaches in all three divisions and serves as a student advisor.

Responsibilities:

● Support the Director of Athletics in leading and executing Fenn’s athletic program in grades four through nine to ensure it meets the needs of all students;

● Coach in all three divisions during the three athletic seasons;

● In collaboration with the Director of Athletics, schedule interscholastic contests, referees, and transportation needed for games and practices taking place off campus;

● In collaboration with the facilities team, ensure that Fenn’s playing surfaces and equipment are well prepared for safe and competitive play;

● Oversee the purchasing, organization, and care of athletic equipment and uniforms;

● Assist in communicating with families about athletic events, including updating Fenn’s website and using social media;

● Address student cases of concern in collaboration with advisors, teachers, Division Heads, the Head of School, and parents as needed;

● With the Director of Athletics, lead Fenn’s annual Field Day in the late spring;

● Serve as a student advisor;

● Other duties as assigned;

Desired Qualifications:

● Experience coaching children in grades four through nine;

● Bachelor’s degree required;

● A love for working with adolescent boys

● Strong written and verbal communication skills

● Highly organized

● Experience with and passion for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work in a school setting

● A track record of successful coaching

● Demonstrated experience collaborating with colleagues

● Proficiency with technology
