St. Mark’s School, Southborough, MA

St. Mark’s School seeks an experienced, collaborative, and energetic Assistant Chaplain and religion teacher to serve for the Fall semester (late August until the end of January).  Teaching responsibilities will include teaching three sections of religion, which may include teaching courses in Judaism, Christianity and Islam or elective courses. At St. Mark’s, Religion courses are taught in a critical, analytical, and non-sectarian manner.  This person would also serve as Assistant Chaplain, assisting with and leading Chapel and voluntary worship services, advising and supporting student religious groups of various denominations and faiths, and generally supporting all members of the St. Mark’s community in their spiritual journeys and lives.  Along with teaching and chaplaincy duties, this person would take on other duties typical to boarding school work, such as student advising, residential duty, coaching, and committee work. The school will not provide housing for this position.

Significant, relevant teaching experience in religion, philosophy, and ethics is required.  The successful candidate will genuinely enjoy working with adolescents as they make the move from childhood to adulthood in their personal, academic, and spiritual lives.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience teaching religion at the secondary school level, in addition to facility with effective and developmentally appropriate pedagogies for teaching to a diverse community of learners.
