Brimmer and May School, an independent, all gender PK-12-day school serving 400 students is seeking a Director of Athletics. The Director of Athletics is responsible for the creation, oversight, enhancement, strategic vision, and management of the school’s athletic program and aligning the program with the School’s mission, vision, and culture. The Director of Athletics supervises and works collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Athletics, Lower School PE teacher, and Athletic Trainor. The Director of Athletics ensures that the program offers excellent physical education, quality athletic performance, and team and recreation opportunities for student participation with an emphasis on education and good sportsmanship. The Director of Athletics oversees all practices and contests and maintains a presence at these sessions. This position works collaboratively with other school administration members to support students, encourage parent and alumni engagement, educate and energize prospective students interested in athletic participation, and promote Brimmer and May.

In addition, this is an exciting time to lead Brimmer’s Athletics Department. Brimmer recently launched Strategic Priorities 2020 & Beyond. Athletics and Wellness are a core component of the strategic plan which has a focus on program and the development of a new Recreation and Wellness Center. The new Director of Athletics will play an important role in the development of the new building and enhance the current Athletics program.

Brimmer’s next Director of Athletics will be an individual who will serve as a strong, visible, and energetic leader. The Director of Athletics will be responsible for the management of all aspects of the athletic program, report to the Head of Upper School, work closely with the Lower School and Middle School Division Heads, supervise the Athletics Department, hire, support, and mentor coaches, and communicate effectively with the community. The next Director of Athletics will need to help develop and implement a vision for athletics as Brimmer enters this next phase, support students, encourage parent and alumni engagement, educate and energize prospective students interested in athletic participation, and promote Brimmer and May.

The ideal candidate will be an educator who will embrace the mission and guiding principles, live out the Core Values, be committed to Brimmer’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work. The candidate should have at least five years of experience working in an Athletics Department and coaching experience, and must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with a Master’s degree preferred.
