Description

Derby Academy, a Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 co-educational day school located in Hingham, Massachusetts, seeks an experienced child care provider to join the After Care staff for the 24 – 25 academic year.

The hours are 3 – 4:30 PM Monday through Thursday.

Experience working with children and youth in a classroom, camp, after school or private family setting is required. Additional requirements include a genuine love of children, and the ability to work as a team with the After Care staff.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in education preferred, or equivalent experience

3-5 years of experience in an after school, school, daycare, or camp setting

Strong understanding of safety practices and procedures

Excellent communication skills

Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment

The ideal candidate will:

Actively participate in the delivery of engaging, interactive educational experiences and curriculum

Plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities for after care students

Maintain expectations and support for positive student behavior

Provide a warm and caring environment where children feel safe, secure, and valued

Engage and interact with after care students

Assure the safety and well-being of after care students at all times

Supervise all outdoor play and indoor activities

Regularly communicate with parents at pick-up

Document attendance, incidents, and other observations

Report regularly to the Director of Auxiliary Programs

This is a part-time non-exempt position paying $20 to $35 per hour commensurate with experience.
