English Faculty Position
(full-time, exempt, housing on campus)
Tilton School seeks an experienced and energetic English teacher with a passion for developing student skills in critical thinking, communication, creative engagement, design thinking and mindfulness, with experience teaching English to include a range of courses from introductory literature to Advanced Placement. The position includes teaching four or five sections under the supervision of the Humanities Division Head.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate:
- A genuine love for the written and spoken word and a persistent desire to open students’ hearts and minds to the literary world;
- Outstanding skills in oral and written communication;
- An abiding belief that all students can grow and succeed in a rigorous curriculum fostering critical thinking, creative engagement and communication skills;
- Experience with Design-Thinking and Problem-Based Learning;
- Expertise in the integration of technology into classroom instruction;
- Ability to work well in a student-centered curriculum;
- Understanding of learning styles and differentiated instruction;
- An eagerness to work in an intense, changing and supportive learning community.
Other duties for this position include: advising, participation as an athletic coach or activities leader for two seasons each year and active participation in our residential program including weeknight-weekend supervision.
The ideal candidate will live on-campus, where we offer free housing that includes meals and basic utilities.
Qualifications:
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Preferred: Experience in residential oversight and/or secondary or post-secondary instruction.
