Antitrust Climate Update: When Collaboration Sparks Exposure

A webinar focused on FTC 101 and the antitrust climate, and the connection to independent schools

Facilitated by:

  • Becky Biggs, Director of Professional Development, AISNE

Despite the desire and need for independent schools to collaborate and share information among peers—particularly during a pandemic—doing so can trigger laws designed to enhance competition. This has recently led to increasing government oversight of schools’ actions, including a recent Department of Justice investigation into DC-area schools’ decision to end AP courses. In this lively and interactive session, experienced education counsel will explore the grey areas of when collaboration between and among independent schools can create unanticipated exposure. This session will provide independent school leaders with concrete tips and steps to empower them to engage in healthy and legal collaboration with peer institutions.

Join this webinar to:

  • Understand the legal framework of antitrust laws, and how they apply to independent schools
  • Identify what types of action and behavior may trigger antitrust laws
  • Explore actions and practices that enhance collaboration between and among independent schools while mitigating legal exposure
