School Nurse

Cambridge Friends School is accepting applications for a full-time (10-month) school nurse position for the 2025-2026 academic year. The School is seeking applicants who love working with children ages 4 – 13 in an academic setting (late August to mid-June). The School Nurse oversees the physical health of our students and provides basic health services to the school community throughout the day, and teaches physical health classes to students in grades five through eight.

Responsibilities include:

• Assessing and evaluating overall student health
• Providing assessment, triage, and care of sick or injured students and staff
• Providing information and referrals for health concerns
• Working with parents and staff to develop and implement care plans for students with ongoing conditions
• Managing inventory of healthcare supplies
• Consulting with teachers, school administrators, and other school staff regarding student care
• Oversee prescription and non-prescription medication administration in accordance with state regulations, including storage, handling, and documentation
• Maintaining student immunization records in our database
• Educating students and staff on health procedures; communicating any special requirements or precautions to faculty/staff on a need-to-know basis, and providing adults with the necessary training for the health and safety of all students 
• Coordinate medication for students and training for adult chaperones on school trips
• Providing pre-packaged lunches to students who need them
• Provide health education to students in grades 5 – 8 in a weekly class format
• Supporting students in other ways as needed
• Work in conjunction with the school counselor regarding student mental health
• participates in weekly health and wellness team meetings 

Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse (LPN) license (Registered nurse license in good standing)
• 3-5 years of experience as a professional RN (preference for those who have worked in school health or pediatric populations)
• Knowledge of many areas of physical health
• Understanding of childhood growth and developmental stages
• Knowledge of Massachusetts school laws and policies
• Ability to communicate well with faculty, staff, and parents
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to assess student health issues and act quickly
• BLS/CPR certification, preference for those certified in training faculty in CPR
• Knowledge of state health regulations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000 per year based on experience
